Kiki Osinbajo

Kiki Osinbajo is the CEO of Glam’ d Africa, a fashion and beauty hub which houses a number of local international brands, has a fully equipped beauty bar, an events hall & cafe. Her passion for creating quality and affordable products on all things fashion and beauty which are really available to everyone, is evidenced by the recent launch of her skincare line. Konyin and the upcoming launch of her shopping application, Shop Ciar which promises to be the next best thing in the fashion & tech. At 25 years old she is seen as one of the youngest established entrepreneurs in the country, causing her to be seen as a role model by entrepreneurial driven youths. She believed that good talent should always be showcased at every given opportunity. This is why Glam’d is a home to a number of upcoming talented designers and their pieces. She has also gone further to host events creating a platform to showcase such talents. She is a law and business graduate of Aston University where she harnessed the knowledge of starting up a successful business and implemented it in her home country. Nigeria is aiming at improving its fashion industry and further contributing to the creating a high standard & also taking the Nigeria Fashion industry to the global market.

Tara Fela-Durotoye

Lawyer turned beauty entrepreneur Tara Fela-Durotoye is the founder and current C.E.O House of Tara International. who started the trend of bridal make up profession in Nigeria.

In a series of firsts, she launched the first bridal directory in Nigeria in 1999, she set up the first make up studio in 2004 and established the country’s first make up school in 2005, launched the Tara Product Line and hosted Nigeria’s first Make-Up Conference in 2014.

She has empowered over 8000 young ladies with the Tara Beauty Entrepreneur’ initiative that makes them economically independent while building their entrepreneurial skills for national transformation.

House of Tara has become a national brand with 26 branches and over 155 employees and presence in most major cities across the country with distribution channels in Kenya and Rwanda and with a plan to expand to other cities in Africa, Europe and North America.

Under her leadership, House of Tara business case study was researched and written by Stanford University and currently being used by Ivy League Institutions.

She has received several national and international Awards for her contribution to the industry and active role in Entrepreneurship and Empowerment, the most recent been the most outstanding Business woman of the year 2018 by the African Economy Builders Awards, African Makeup Icon by Ghana Makeup Awards, the Inspirational woman of the year 2016 by the First Lady of Lagos State and Leadership Award for Entrepreneurship by Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria 2016.

In 2017 she was invited by the Minister of Finance to the YouWin advisory board, she seats on the advisory board of Bridge International Academies which is the world’s largest education innovation company with a chain of schools and So Fresh Neighbourhood Market Limited Nigeria’s number one and fastest growing healthy food chain.

She is an alumnus of the of Lagos Business School Chief Executive Programme, INSEAD Abu Dhabi, The Stanford SEED Transformation Programme and the Harvard Kennedy School having completed the Global Leadership and Public Policy in the 21st century.

She was recognised by:

Tara is happily married to Fela Durotoye and is blessed with three sons.

Ada Iwugo

Ada Iwugo is an International Business graduate from Imperial College University of London, and has had a career spanning 18 years in several different companies in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Ms Iwugo has extensive experience in the FMCG and Retail industry, and has managed retailers like Harrods, Selfridges, Superdrug and Boots. Her impressive portfolio includes luxury goods companies like Christian Dior, Coty Inc, and the drinks giant Guinness Diageo. She was also the Distribution Director for West Africa at Microsoft.

Her most recent appointment is as the Commercial Director of House of Tara International, overseeing all Distribution, Marketing and Business Development activities in the organization.

Ms Iwugo is an avid traveller and enjoys writing short scripts for TV programmes. She is passionate about distribution and retail, particularly in the ever evolving, dynamic African market.

Funke Osae-Brown

Funke Osae-Brown is a senior journalist; former deputy editor, BusinessDay on Sunday/Editor BusinessLife, with BusinessDay Newspaper. Now Publisher, The Luxury Reporter (TLR) www.luxuryreporter.ng that has more than 4 million hit between May 2014 and February 2015; and MoneyIssues (www.moneyissues.ng).

She is a travel journalist who has travelled to countries. She was the editor of the famous youth magazine in Nigeria called ‘NaijaTimes’, a freelance correspondent for the African Review owned by The Nation Media Group in Kenya. She contributed to Essence Magazine, South Africa and South Africa Airways In-flight magazine, Sawubona.

She was nominated in three categories of the Nigerian Media Merit Awards. She was also a 2013 finalist at the Diageo Business Reporting Awards in the Best Business News. She won award for Best Arts and Culture Reporting 2013 at the Annual Mother Drum Golden Awards organised by Mother Drum Foundation and Future Awards Journalist of the Year, 2009. She has attended training in Netherlands, UK, Ghana among other countries.

Irene Syrimis

Irene Syrimis is the Executive Director at the Nail Studio Ltd. She joined ‘The Nail Studio’ in June 2006 after a career in both law and image consulting.  She is responsible for the general day-to-day operations with special emphasis on the Retail and Spa divisions.

The Nail Studio Ltd is a “One-stop” beauty shop, the Studio was established in October 1986 by Mrs. Adetokunbo Awogboro in a refurbished kitchenette in a tiny shopping complex on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi.  Since then the business, which stared with two members of staff, has grown to a staff strength of sixty-five people and several different divisions comprised of a nail section, barbers, spa, juice bar, hairdressers and retail division.

In 2014 The Nail Studio in a bid to sanitize its retail operations decided to trade in luxury cosmetics and fragrances. As a result the Nail Studio entered into partnerships with the following brands: Estee Lauder, Clinique, Smashbox, Boadicea the Victorious, Tom Ford and many others. Irene was Instrumental during this whole process.

Irene is happily married and the mother to two boys.

Dr. Vivian Oputa

Dr. Vivian Oputa is a Medical Practitioner and Specialist in Aesthetic Medicine, Surgery and Dermatology. Her core focus is Corrective Skincare. She is the Medical Director of DermaCare Medical Ltd., She is also an Avid Writer, Wellness Coach and Anti-Ageing Medicine Expert.

Tewa Onasanya

Tewa Onasanya a Publisher and Mindset Stylist holds a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Portsmouth, UK and a Certificate in Fashion Journalism from the College of Media and Publishing. She is the Founder of Exquisite Magazine a Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Magazine for women. Exquisite magazine organises the exquisite magazine awareness for cancer events which include the EMAC #smearit walks and smearathon, events aimed at increasing the awareness for cervical cancer prevention and free screening for people. In 2009, exquisite magazine started an only female awards ceremony called the exquisite lady of the year (ELOY) awards, The ELOY awards are aimed at celebrating women of excellence in different fields, thereby empowering, motivating and inspiring others and it holds every November.

Ifeamaka Umeike

Ifeamaka Umeike is the Founder/Owner of Natural Nigerian, a successful independent brand in the Nigerian beauty industry. She has a degree in Chemistry and studied Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.

With over 17 years working experience, she worked in the Telecommunications sector and the Oil & Gas sector for a number of years and now works full time as a formulating chemist for Natural Nigerian where she oversees the production and distribution of cosmetic products made for men, women and children. One of her passions is sharing her knowledge of the sector as well as the intricacies of cosmetic manufacturing from the point of view of a chemist.

Being a pioneer in the Natural Cosmetics field in Nigeria, she has worked hard to bring the natural community together by holding several natural meet ups in several States across Nigeria, including Lagos, Abuja, Enugu and Oyo. The longest running Natural Event in Nigeria, Naturals in The City, which has run since 2011 is one of her pet projects.

She has facilitated many cosmetic formulation classes across Nigeria and had speaking roles at many events, the most recent being the Global Shea Alliance conference in Abuja, Nigeria.

Deola Adebiyi

Deola Adebiyi is a fashion and beauty blogger and content creator of OmogeMuRa Media. She started OmogeMuRa, her website, 6 years ago as a journalism school portfolio. Over the years, OmogeMuRa has evolved into her own personal space where she shares her wardrobe, her beauty buys, favorite songs, places to visit in Lagos and more. After graduate school, she went on to work for several media houses, public relations companies and digital media companies such as Hello Nigeria, Complete Fashion, LSFPR, Guardian Newspapers, Anozim Limited and Ventra Media. When she’s not blogging and editing videos, she spends her days playing with makeup, taking self portraits, eating sweet foods and listening to rap music.

Jamal Robert Siakpere

Jamal is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist. He began his journey to IT after gaining a professional Diploma in computer systems engineering from Jidaw systems limited and in Software Engineering from NIIT.

In 2013, he started an IT company (Dextatek Limited) ; building websites for co-oprates… Jamal Robert is a believer, he believes that African businesses, no matter how small have the potentials to become global businesses.

In 2015 he made a shift and focused mainly on Sme’s, helping to position small businesses to achieve the most from the web.

His passion for Small and growing businesses in Africa led him to starting Africaretails.com; An Afrocentric ecommerce marketplace where anyone can buy and sell products made in Africa.

Dr Ifeoma Abajue

Dr Ifeoma Abajue is a sought after Aesthetic Dermatologist with Local and International experience. She obtained her M.B.B.S. at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos and furthered with a diploma in Practical Dermatology at the prestigious University of Wales, Cardiff.

She specializes in aesthetics, obtaining a diploma from the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine and has distinguished herself in the aesthetic sector for over 14years.

She is currently the Clinical Director at the Aesthetic Clinic, offering the latest on trend customized treatments.
She is also the principal of the Beauty Therapy Institute (BTI) Lagos. BTI Lagos is a part of a franchise located in South Africa and other African countries offering the highest standard of education/training in the health, beauty and skin care industry, with a wide offering of over 40 basic and advanced courses giving internationally recognized certifications.

Kofo Martins

Kofo Martins is a beauty education provider, trainer and administrator with deep industry network and strong business management skills who helps beauty schools and businesses including startups interpret and turn their vision into profitable businesses engaging best practices.

Kofo is passionate about developing the standard of the Nigerian beauty industry to benchmark against international best practices and has turned her passion into her profession. She believes Nigeria can be a destination for beauty and wellness tourism if the proper structures and standards are in place.

An Alumnus of The Lagos Business School with an LLB from the University of Ife and LLM from the University of Lagos, Kofo worked as Administrator and later Executive Director, Opral Benson Beauty Training Institute, Administrator Spectrum Beauty Academy and Group Head HR/Admin Silverbird Group.

Kofo was a member of the LASTVEB/NBTE (National Board for Technical Education) Stakeholders Forum which developed a draft of the National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF) and National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the Nigerian Beauty Industry.

She was also Vice-Chairperson of LASTVEB Industry Advisory Committee. She has developed training curricula for beauty therapy and hairdressing for the LASTVEB graduate, school leavers and artisans training programmes.

She was invited for the LASTVEB/NBTE Consultative Forum towards development of occupational standard in Nigeria.

Kofo currently runs a consultancy.

Olamide Ojo

Olamide Ojo is a Professional Makeup artist and beauty services provider. She studied Mechanical Engineering at the Lagos State University and graduated Magna cum laude and practised for a few years before venturing into full time makeup artist. She has been in the business of makeup for over 11 years now and has a huge Clientele to her Credit. She is an excellent instructor and teacher and this has earned her students from all over the world. Her attention to detail and excellent makeup skills make her jobs outstanding any day. She Manages Tints Makeup Professionals, a beauty Outfit based in Lagos. She is happily married with kids

Leslie Okoye

Proudly Nigerian, Leslie Okoye is on a mission to redefine the meaning of “good skin” and what it means to be ‘beautiful’ amongst women of color especially African women. Using her holistic skin care line, CookieSkin, the skincare expert encourages a healthy and safer alternative to achieving beautiful skin. Believing beauty is confidence, Mrs. Okoye works to build up millions of women to not only look beautiful, but to feel self-confident that they are indeed beautiful no matter the colour of their skin.

Along with her brand, the mother of two is the chosen skin care expert and health coach to many Nigerian and Ghanian celebrities. Pamela Olatunji

Pamela Olatunji is a graduate of aesthetic dermatology from College of Medical Aesthetics, Long Beach California and an alumni of The National Laser Institute in Houston. A prolific injector, specializing in anti aging treatments, she is  certified on multiple platforms for the use of laser in skin of color. She is a proud member of the Association of Cellular medicine amongst others.

Mawuena Adzo Trebarh 

Mrs. Mawuena Adzo Trebarh has an exceptional professional track record spanning more than two decades. She was the first woman geologist at the Ashanti Goldfields Limited in Obuasi where she supported a mine operation of 10,000 men leading a drilling team that worked at times 5,000 feet below the earth’s surface to identify gold deposits.

She was the first woman to establish and head the Corporate Affairs Division of MTN Ghana, as the Director of Corporate Services where again she oversaw reputation management of the company’s USD $ 1 billion plus investment in the sector. She became the respected voice and face of the brand and led the Ghana Operating Unit to win back-to-back awards for Corporate Social Responsibility, a feat the company has not achieved again since she left.

She was the first woman substantive CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre and the youngest person to hold that position in the Centre’s history from April 2013 – January 2017 GIPC is the government agency charged with the facilitation and promotion of investments in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy. As the CEO, Mawuena was at the helm of Ghana’s investment drive. Her focus was on promoting specific projects in key areas for investment by local and foreign investors. She is currently the Founding Director and Chief Business Strategist of Inspire Africa Consult Limited, a business strategy-consulting firm.

She is married to Flt Lt Divine Kwesi Trebarh (Retd) and they are blessed with a daughter Katherine Joy. She is older sister to the late Komla A. Dumor of the BBC and Dr. Korshie S. Dumor an internal medicine specialist practicing in the USA. She is also daughter to renowned academicians and public servants, Professor Ernest Dumor and the late Mrs. Cecilia Dumor. Many people do not know that she is also the granddaughter of the composer of Ghana’s national anthem – Philip Gbeho. Mawuena believes strongly in service to society and humanity.

Kekeletso Khena

Kekeletso Khena is a Chief Technology Officer at K Squared Group, a multi divisional company founded in 2012. As a Bio Tech Entrepreneur, Kekeletso has won the Gab Biosciences Award for her Ethnic Hair Hydration Technology – which she has used to develop a natural hair care system – blk2, pronounced “Black Squared”. The blk2, scientifically validated and dermatology tested product range, harnesses the healing power of Africa’s biodiversity and uses natural actives sourced from rural areas to create employment for rural women and business ownership through her franchise group of salons, to be launched in 2019.

As an indigenous knowledge activist, Kekeletso is working with the Centre for Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) and the South African government to develop grass root strategies to harness support for the expansion of the indigenous knowledge based bio economy as a means to foster economic growth and the inclusion of previously ignored black communities. Ms Khena’s passion for local economy development has driven her partnership   with Ekasi, a township business support and advocacy organization, that encourages township economy development, and supports the international call for black people to support black-owned brands and buy products manufactured by black people .

Her people, planet then profit approach to business is inspired by her gender activism and sexual violence experiences and having to deal with the various other forms of gender-based violence in the township she grew up in. These experiences propelled her toward social activism and entrepreneurship as means to reduce women’s vulnerability to violence due to their economic and social dis empowerment.  Through her international franchise group model, Ms Khena endeavours to encourage female business ownership and economic autonomy as a way to change the status of women throughout the African continent.

As one of the founders of Forum For The Empowerment Of Women (FEW), Ms Khena was instrumental in the formation of the task team that led to the first draft of the “hate crimes bill” after a leading a three day vigil, sit in protest outside the South African parliament. Very recently, Ms Khena was one of the women who sat outside Union Buildings to demand that President Cyril Ramaphosa accept the memorandum for the Total Shut Down protest demanding the development of a women led strategic approach to the eradication of gender-based violence in South Africa. Keke believes that business is an act of activism, and all platforms a space to drive change for us as women as Africans and entrepreneurs.

Ade Bakcare

The Ade Bakcare Couture label is a luxury brand of elegant and classic clothes with a modern twist. The label consists of day and evening wear with a bridal range using exquisite couture fabrics such as chiffon, duchess satin, zibeline, lace and Ade’s favourite fabric, Gazar. Some of the signature designs that have become successful over the years are his silk gazar sweep coats, puff-sleeved blouses, high neck jackets, beaded kaftans and the frilled African boubou. His collection now embrace his African heritage and his beautiful designs can be seen interpreted in the silk adire he has now made famous

Ade Bakare Couture sells to private clients and shops of England. In Nigeria he has a boutique that sells both couture and ready to wear lines. He has two fragrances to his name Breeze which is a blue floral fragrance and his signature scent, Ade Bakare, a spicy floral perfume. In England his clients include celebrities and English aristocracy.
